About

Built it the hard way. Then built it faster.

Welsh. Joined the Army at seventeen. Spent the next two decades in private security and maritime — first inside operations, then inside the compliance functions that try to keep operations defensible.

By the time most companies notice a compliance gap, it is already in the audit report. I spent years as the person reading those reports, then became the person writing the management systems that closed the findings, and walking teams through the certification audits that followed. Multiple companies, including three multi-company groups. Multiple jurisdictions. Six ISO standards in active practice.

The work taught me two things. First: compliance done well is operational, not bureaucratic. The system has to be the way the business runs, or the auditor finds the seam. Second: the work has been done by hand for fifty years, and most of it doesn't need to be. The judgment is irreducibly human. The execution is not.

Talon Global is the practice that combines both — twenty years of inside-the-sector judgment, paired with disciplined AI direction. The output is the same audit-grade work, delivered in weeks where it used to take quarters.

Four rules that drive the practice.

01

Compliance should be operational, not bureaucratic.

If the system is not the way the business actually runs, it is theatre. We do not produce theatre. The auditor finds the seam in twenty minutes; the regulator finds it in two questions. Build for the second question.

02

The judgment must stay human; the execution can be amplified.

AI is a force multiplier on disciplined direction. It is a hazard on undisciplined direction. We use it where it produces audit-grade work and refuse it where it doesn't. The line is not negotiable.

03

Audits are won by clarity, not volume.

A 600-page management system is not more defensible than a 60-page one. It is less defensible, because nobody reads it. We optimise for the auditor's second question — not the page count.

04

We do not produce templates that fail under follow-up questions.

Templates fail at the seam between what the document says and what the operation actually does. We close that seam by writing from the operation, not from the template library.

Talon Global is an independent practice.

All work product belongs to clients. Past employer materials are not available. Our methodology, architectural patterns, and design thinking travel with us — and are demonstrated independently via YOURco-style anonymised examples — but no specific engagement is credited without the client's explicit consent.
